Monica Keena was born in Brooklyn on May 28, 1979, to Bill and Mary Keena and was little sister to Samantha, the Keenas' first daughter. Growing sup, Monica shone in all things arts. Dance, singing, acting, and drawing. At 13, Keena enrolled in the prestigious LaGuardia school for acting and made it. At age 15, she had a small role in her first film, and that was followed by a series of TV movies, such as First Daughter (1999) and the A Promise Kept: The Oksana Baiul Story (1994). Monica Lawson is a New York trained actress having received a BFA in theatre from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. After graduation, Monica focused her career on theater having performed with renowned companies such as The Classical Theater of Harlem, The Flea Theater, under Artistic Director Jim Simpson, and The Bank Street Theater. She continued her comedic studies at The Groundlings School with instructors Scott Beehner and Drew Droege. Now based in Los Angeles, Monica is a working actress with independent film roles, TV roles for CBS and ABC including CSI, NCIS and General Hospital and as well as a national print campaign for Clairol and various other commercials. Monica continues her theatrical pursuits in Los Angeles having performed sketch at Second City Hollywood, and with theatre companies such as the Alliance Repertory Theater, The SkyPilot Theater Co., and as a member of the highly regarded Open Fist Theater Company, most notably in their production of Horton Foote's Foot Notes directed by actor Scott Paulin. Monica has opened a production company BOND Motion Pictures, where she has produced short films and is embarking on her first feature.
