Daniella Dela Peña is a Toronto based Filipina-Canadian actress, singer, and creator who has recently graduated from the joint Theatre and Drama Studies Program at the University of Toronto and Sheridan College. As an artist with no limits, Daniella's involvements within the entertainment industry have been accelerating through recent works in theatre, film, and new media. As a first generation immigrant, she is passionate about merging her artistry with her Filipino culture that has heavily influenced her identity today. Since a young age, Daniella's love for performing has bloomed through various mediums. Thanks to a push of tough love from her parents, she has been fortunate to have training in ballet, piano, and conservatory singing. From then on, she has grown a craving for more opportunities to place herself in the spotlight. Since then, she has diligently been searching for new ways to showcase her talents through various forms of entertainment. Within the time of her theatrical studies, Daniella has had the pleasure of portraying Athena in The Oresteia (dir. Tyler J. Seguin), and being a collaborative creator for The Places We Are (dir. Rob Kempson) and Hello Girls (dir. Maggie Kennedy). Most recently, she had the privilege of voicing Jinx in the world premiere of David Yee's hair raising play, and the first ever Theatre Erindale audio series, the cecil hotel directed by multiple Dora Mavor Moore award-winning Nina Lee Aquino. To close her post-secondary experience, Daniella was cast in a Swinging 60's virtual adaptation of The Roaring Girl directed by Samantha Wilson. Outside of her education, she has also been writing a new play with The Disconnect(ed) Collective alongside Carlos Bulosan Theatre. You can also spot Daniella in her first ever film for Hallmark's Two For The Win. With an eager drive to take on new successes, Daniella is looking forward to growing as an artist as she continues to make discoveries about herself and this industry of endless possibilities. Daniella is the older sister of Diana Kate Dela Peña who is a retired gymnast and two-time Eastern Canadian Champion. Her parents are Zosimo (Bay) and Elisa Dela Peña who immigrated to Toronto from the Philippines in the late 1990s. Fun fact: they are a year a part, but have the same birthday! Daniella began her career in contemporary and physical theatre in the UK, having attained a first class degree with honours in Performing Arts. She toured self-devised pieces such as 'Havisham' with her co-founded theatre company En-root and performed in 'West Side Story' and 'Woyzeck', and 'OldBoy' with FullTilt. Daniella returned to her hometown Hong Kong to work in film, most notably 'Drink Tea Ghost Man' and Chinese TV series 'Spring in The City', as a voice over artist dubbing Chinese and Japanese cartoons and film into English and voicing commercials, and as a writer. Work and a passion for travel took her around the world, to London and then to Amsterdam where she has continued in film and voice work. She is known for her role as the flighty American Ellie in 'The Conversations' (Haider Zafar & Marcus Flemmings, 2016), which has one best film in 3 international film festivals and as Sam in the Nigerian-British quirky comedy 'Mum, Dad Meet Sam' (Tony Sebastian Ukpo, 2014). It was during this film she was introduced to the Nollywood when the film did a cinema run. Last year saw the success of The Wedding Party (Kemi Adetiba, 2016) breaking Nigerian box office records, in which she played Deirdre Winston. She is returning to The Wedding Party for the sequel, Destination Dubai as the principal female. The sequel is scheduled for a December 2017 release. Daniella's projects are varied and reflect her passion for traveling. 'The Shell Collector' (directed by Kevin Tadge) an American-Hong Kong film, will release later in 2017. Other creative projects include an underwater music video (Coldplay Ghost Stories Live Tour), experimental short films such as 'The other Violence' (directed by Michael Sewando), playing Elizabeth Bennett in a Hong Kong theatrical reworking of Pride & Prejudice, and many creative writing projects.
Daniella Evangelista has been working in the film and modeling industry since she was 4-years-old. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and raised in Los Angeles, California; Daniella now splits her time between both cities. She has a passion for cooking & health and in addition to performing, she enjoys coaching acting (especially with children). Daniella is a bit of a tomboy and loves cars & bikes, but when she puts on a dress, look out. Evangelista is best-known for her 5-year run as series regular "Tracey Antonelli" on the hit series, Edgemont (2000), starring Kristin Kreuk (Smallville (2001), Beauty and the Beast (2012)) and Grace Park (Battlestar Galactica (2004), Hawaii Five-0 (2010)). Daniella has earned numerous guest star credits and has been featured in both TV and theatrical release feature films. Shortly after her first film (Disturbing Behavior (1998)), Daniella landed roles in numerous TV movies, including a small part in Brothers' Destiny (1995), starring Danny Aiello and Mickey Rooney. Her first American feature film was Warner Bros.'s The Amazing Panda Adventure (1995), working opposite Ryan Slater, Christian Slater's brother. Daniella has also worked on several independent films across the genre. At thirteen, Daniella opted to take some time off from acting to concentrate on school work. In the late 90s, she was approached by 20th Century Fox to read for a role in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999), although the part was eventually given to Natalie Portman. More recently, Daniella has appeared in the feature films, Cabin by the Lake (2000) and its sequel, Ripper (2001), Wishmaster 3: Beyond the Gates of Hell (2001) and The Mangler 2 (2002). With her "scream queen" title firmly established, Daniella took a change of direction and landed the role of "Tracey Antonelli" in the Canadian television hit series, Edgemont (2000), which is now filming its fourth season. She also provides the voice of "Kana" in the popular Japanese anime, Tottoko Hamutaro (2000); and will soon be seen in the Tom Arnold movie, After School Special (2002), and in Elijah Wood's Try Seventeen (2002), which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival.
