Alex R. Wagner is a producer and distribution partner at Env Pictures a New York start-up and independent television station. A graduate of Columbia College Chicago's Cinema Arts and Sciences program, he has worked on major studio productions including holding staff positions on prominant network televisions shows and movies including Avengers: Infinity Wars and Mysteries of Laura starring Debra Messing of Will & Grace. In the summer of 2016 Alex co-founded the New York based sketch comedy group and show The Egos. Alex subsequently went on to direct 10 films for ESX, including "American Wrestler", about a 17 year-old Iranian refugee who defies adversity and becomes the high school wrestling champion during the Iran hostage crisis of 1980. The film won multiple awards on the festival circuit including "Best Picture" and "Best Ensemble" at the Boston Film Festival and the Audience Award at the Austin Film and Napa Film Festivals. Alex went back to the motor sports world for two more films, "Dirt", starring Kevin Dillon, set in the redneck sport of off-road truck racing, and "Bennett's War", set in the world of motocross, which was theatrically released in 2019. Alex's next movie "The Ride", starring Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges and Sasha Alexander, premiered on Amazon Prime in November 2020 to glowing audience reviews, where it held the top spot in "popular movies" for a week straight. His latest movie, the Mixed-Martial-Arts drama "Born a Champion" is set to release in January 2021. In 2019, Co-op Entertainment teamed up with Legion M and turned Alex's script "The Girl With No Name" into a comic book and launched a Kickstarter campaign to manage the pre-sales. It obliterated its funding goal within 4 hours and set a Kickstarter record, becoming the most backed comic book of all-time. "The Girl With No Name" is anticipated to go into production in 2021 with Tanya Wexler at the helm (director of 'Jolt' starring Kate Beckinsale). Alex prides himself first and foremost with the performance of his cast. He has worked with veteran actors such as Jane Seymour, Sharon Stone, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Lea Thompson, Tommy Flanagan and Dennis Quaid. Alex is an avid car enthusiast and resides in Santa Monica, CA.
