Alex Chorley

Alex Chorley, 21, is a multi-award-winning actor, classically trained baritone singer, filmmaker and composer. Born in London in 2000, he emigrated to Australia with his family when he was 4 years old before moving back to England in 2019. At nine years of age, he first sang solo at the Sydney Opera House and now has numerous professional theatre credits to his name. These include 3 seasons with Opera Australia in the children's chorus of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and 'Turandot' and as a principal playing one of the 3 spirits in 'The Magic Flute'. He also spent a year playing the role of Michael Banks in the Sydney season of Disney and Cameron McKintosh's hit stage musical 'Mary Poppins' and followed this by performing opposite Jack Thompson in the Sydney Theatre Company's production of 'Under Milk Wood'. Shortly after he was cast 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' with the Belvoir Street Theatre and has since performed in three seasons of pantomime in Sydney. In 2017 he appeared in the Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) world premiere production of 'Intersection'. He also played Scarecrow in the musical, 'The Wizard of Oz', along with the role of Basil Fawlty in a Sydney production of 'Fawlty Towers'. In 2018 he featured as Demetrius in Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and completed a 2 week music tour of the UK during which he sang in front of HRHs Prince William and Prince Harry at the Westminster Abbey ANZAC Day service, worked with the King's Singers and performed solos in Handel's House and Southwark Cathedral. During this time, he has released several singles and two full-length alternative music albums entitled 'Parasitia' and the more recent 'Merakian'. Having finished his BA in filmmaking at the London Film Academy, he has also enjoyed recent success creating and directing the popular web-series 'This Room Does Not Exist' as well as short films including' Timeout' and 'Pillarboxed' both of which have won several film festival awards. Other previous professional engagements include a number of films, commercials, play readings, corporate work and numerous vocal recitals, including singing as a soloist at Sydney's "Last Night of the Proms" with the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra. He is the winner of numerous performance scholarships and awards, winning over 120 first places at various eisteddfods , including 23 gold medals at the prestigious Sydney Eisteddfod festival in both acting and singing categories and was the 2018 winner of the Senior Acting Championship. He was also selected as an Operatic Aria Vocal Scholarship Finalist, while still only 18 years of age. Alex sings in a baritone register of over two octaves and has passed the Australian Music Examining Board AMusA associate diploma singing with distinction and Trinity College London ATCL associate diploma of speech and drama with distinction. He has studied at the Royal Academy of Music (London), the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA - Sydney) and the London Film Academy. Alex is based in London and has dual UK / Australian citizenship (he holds passports for both countries).
